This research explores the process of inter-religious mate selection and important role third parties as social forces in among individuals urban areas Indonesia. The scope is sociology family using hybrid typology for Kalmijn (1998) parties. article enriches those elaborated by Netting (2010), Tsutsui (2013) Casier et al. on combination traditional love process, (1998), Connolly (2009), Yahya Boag (2014) intermarriage. A qualitative field with snowball method doing retrospective interviews greater Jakarta conducted 4 from Islam Christian. period year 2018-2021. It revealed that all going through which starts ends typology. begins individual choosing his/her own end only able to get married approval family. individuals’ capability negotiate standpoint preserve relationship until succeed marry, several multilayer specially conjugal state. reflects existence tolerance. theoretical contribution how negotiating also applies context, are elaborated.
